National Account Manager - The Job Role Details:

This role is a key position within the commercial team, responsible for managing and growing accounts across foodservice, processors, independent retail groups, and major grocery retailers. You'll play a crucial role in increasing sales, driving marketing initiatives, and ensuring sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring long-term, sustainable growth.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the product range, supply chains, and customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, acting as their go-to commercial contact.
  • Deliver strategic account management, ensuring volume, value, and profit targets are met.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotions to maximise profitability.
  • Analyse sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Lead category management and joint business planning with key customers.
  • Ensure all commercial activities align with business objectives, forecasting, and operational planning.
  • Collaborate closely with sourcing and planning teams to ensure consistent product availability and service levels.
  • Support brand management initiatives to increase market presence and category leadership.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in fresh produce sales, account management, or commercial operations.
  • Proven track record in managing UK retail, foodservice, or processor accounts.
  • Strong understanding of fresh produce supply chains and category management.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse data and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Experience working in international markets (EU, EMEA) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Highly numerate with strong reporting and forecasting abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and internationally.
