We are recruiting for an Assistant Forester to join the team, based in Alnwick, Northumberland.

The key skills and knowledge areas required for the role being:

  • Grant and felling applications knowledge.

  • Experienced in field surveys and tree safety inspections.

  • Experienced in the collection of mensuration data, volume and value estimations and product breakdown.

  • Knowledge in mechanised timber harvesting and marketing.

  • NWC, design, support mechanisms and maintenance.

  • Experienced in woodland management plans and digital mapping.

  • Knowledge of preparation and monitoring of budgets.

  • Experienced in programming and managing a range of contract works.

  • Awareness of liaison with local authorities and professional bodies to advise on matters concerning land use.

  • Experienced in workplace Health & Safety - responsibilities - risk assessments, procedures, and policies.

  • A knowledge of sawmilling and timber treatment would be desirable.

  • A good knowledge of common tree pests and diseases.

  • Clean full UK driving licence essential.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working unassisted and as part of a team.

  • Appropriate IT skills.

Required Qualification:

  • Forestry Diploma/Degree essential.

  • Working towards Professional ICF accreditation, desirable.
