UK Fertiliser Sales Manager - Horticulture

The Job Role:
As the Fertiliser Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth within the horticultural market by building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, including nurseries, garden centres, and professional growers. You will lead the development of strategic sales plans, introduce new fertiliser products, and provide expert advice to clients on the most effective fertilisation programs for their specific needs.

Location:
Home based with travel required across the UK.

Salary Package:
£50,000 - £60,000 Basic Salary + Company Car + Bonus

Job Responsibilities:
Sales Growth: Drive sales and revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding the customer base within the horticultural sector.

Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with key accounts, including nurseries, horticultural businesses, and landscape professionals, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Product Expertise: Provide expert advice and technical support to clients on the selection and use of fertilisers, ensuring they are choosing the right products.

Market Intelligence: Monitor and analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to develop targeted sales strategies and stay ahead of the competition.

Sales Presentations & Negotiations: Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and negotiations with customers to close deals and secure contracts.

Sales Reporting: Regularly report on sales performance, market insights, and customer feedback to senior management, providing actionable recommendations to improve sales strategies.

Promotions & Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional strategies and marketing campaigns to increase product visibility and drive sales.

Training & Development: Provide training and support to customers and internal staff on product knowledge, application techniques, and industry best practices.

Field Visits: Regularly visit client sites and attend industry events to promote products, understand customer needs, and maintain a visible presence in the market.

Candidate Requirements:
Proven sales experience in the fertiliser, horticultural, or agricultural industries, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
In-depth knowledge of fertiliser products and their applications in the horticultural industry, including understanding of soil chemistry and plant nutrition.
Strong customer relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and provide technical support.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and sales processes simultaneously.
Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales reporting tools.
A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and organic fertiliser solutions.
Strong network within the horticultural industry, including relationships with key growers, distributors, and suppliers.
