Livestock Manager

The Company:
Supplier of British beef products.

The Job Role:
As Livestock Manager, you will be responsible for the health, welfare, nutrition, and genetics of the livestock on the farm. Managing and reporting through the software systems to the owners, ensuring production levels are met. You will also be responsible for the mentoring of apprentices.

Location: The Welsh border

Salary Package: Up to £32,500 per year + accommodation

Key Responsibilities:
Daily herd health checks.
Manage the vaccination programme including updating medical and vaccination records.
Managing calf protocols including nutritional and health needs and registering calf's upon arrival.
Completing genomic testing, sire tracking and bench-marking for cattle.
Tracking and planning general animal health e.g. lowering mortality rate, reducing lung damage and lameness, managing bolus and worming plan.
Monitoring animal movements and AFU management, managing grazing platforms and movements of cattle. Ration management, ensuring appropriate feeding level using DTM feeder software.
Creating the necessary reports including reporting performance for monthly kill plan.
Ensure the farm is maintained to a high standard, ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to.
Maintaining production, bench-marking, and meeting targets.
Assisting the farm manager with weekly plans, supporting, and working with the current team.
Adhering to farm assurance and maintaining the appropriate records for this.
Aid with the harvest and other jobs.
