Grower - Herbs & Salads - The Job Role Details:
Are you ready to take your growing career to the next level? In this role, you will oversee all aspects of herb and salad crop production, ensuring optimal yield, quality, and efficiency. You'll work closely with the production and technical teams to implement best practices, drive improvements, and maintain high standards in crop management.
Grower - Herbs & Salads - Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end growing process for herbs and salads, from propagation to harvest.
- Monitor crop health, nutrition, irrigation, and pest management strategies.
- Implement and maintain best agronomic practices to maximise yield and quality.
- Work closely with agronomists, technical teams, and suppliers to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee resource planning, including labour, machinery, and infrastructure needs.
- Analyse data and trends to improve production efficiencies and reduce waste.
- Ensure all crops meet customer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Lead and develop a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including water management and soil health.
Grower - Herbs & Salads - Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have/be:
- Proven experience in growing herbs, salads, or other fresh produce crops.
- Strong understanding of agronomy, crop management, and horticultural best practices.
- Experience in managing irrigation systems and fertigation strategies.
- Knowledge of pest and disease control methods.
- Ability to analyse data and implement improvements.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Familiarity with industry certifications such as Red Tractor, GlobalG.A.P., or BRC.
- Passion for sustainability and innovation in agriculture.
