In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of farm management, ensuring high standards of crop production, sustainability, and team leadership.
Farm Manager - Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of farm management, including planning, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and storage of cereals and root vegetables.
- Develop and implement efficient and sustainable farming practices to maximise yield and quality.
- Manage and lead a team of farm workers, ensuring effective staff training, motivation, and performance.
- Monitor soil health, pest and disease control, and implement appropriate agronomic strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, environmental regulations, and farm assurance schemes.
- Maintain and manage farm machinery and equipment, ensuring all operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Manage farm budgets, purchasing, and financial planning to maintain profitability.
- Liaise with suppliers, agronomists, and industry stakeholders to stay updated on best practices and market trends.
Farm Manager - Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications: You will have/be:
- Proven experience in farm management, preferably within arable farming with a focus on cereals and root vegetables.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong agronomic knowledge and practical experience in crop management.
- Understanding of modern farming techniques, including precision agriculture and sustainable practices.
- Experience in managing budgets, staff, and farm operations.
- Familiarity with farm machinery and maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, farm assurance schemes, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
