Location: Office based in Nottinghamshire, to be able to lead and motivate your team.

Salary & Benefits:

Job Role Details:

As the Commercial Manager you will oversee the sales operation, ensuring the achievement of commercial targets in sales, market penetration, and commercial margin within the business.

Key Responsibilities:
You will…

  • Keep management informed through regular submission of activity and results reports, including call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual analyses.

  • Identify and address bottlenecks or problems within the sales department, providing coaching and corrections as necessary to drive continuous improvement.

  • Stay updated on rules and regulations relevant to the sales function by participating in training and conducting desk research.

  • Actively drive actions to maintain customer satisfaction, quality, and service performance, ensuring the company's image and customer relationships remain strong.

  • Determine annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing marketing strategies and analysing trends and results, focusing on achieving growth goals.

  • Ensure sales targets are met through effective planning, budgeting, and implementation of scalable commercial strategies.

  • Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by monitoring market trends, economic indicators, and competitor activities.

  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding and addressing customer needs and preferences.

  • Set and track sales goals, comparing performance to objectives, and adjusting strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Manage the recruitment, objective setting, coaching, and performance monitoring of the sales team, fostering talent development and career growth.

  • Assess and improve team processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing necessary changes.

  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasts to inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Monitor individual performance, providing feedback and corrective actions as needed to maintain high standards.

  • Identify emerging markets and shifts, staying informed about new products and competitors to adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Meet with customers regularly to understand their evolving needs and assess the quality of the company's relationship with them.

  • Carry out activities clearly and logically, ensuring prompt and accurate communication with stakeholders on activity status and progress.

  • Focus on market share growth by establishing the right strategies to achieve growth goals, driving innovation and future development.

  • Track sales goals and report results as necessary, utilising business intelligence to inform strategic decisions and market trends.

  • Oversee the activities and performance of the sales team, implementing corrective action plans as needed to ensure performance targets are met.

  • Feed product development and innovation choices with market data to drive the group towards future growth.

  • Prepare the budget and various forecasts throughout the year, aligning sales figures with strategic direction and financial goals.

  • Monitor and take necessary actions regarding customer payments, addressing risks and delays to maintain healthy cash flow and mitigate financial risks.

You will have/be…

  • 10 + years' experience in B2B Sales.

  • Ideally have experience in an engineering or manufacturing company.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead a team to meet quotas.

  • Experience setting sales goals.

  • Results-oriented with strong analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of commercial processes and Microsoft Office package.
