The Job Role Details:
As Agricultural Store Manager with SQP qualification (Suitably Qualified Person), you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring smooth business processes, managing stock, and delivering excellent customer service.
You will be responsible for the sale and advisory of veterinary medicines under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations, ensuring that products are sold ethically and safely to livestock owners, farmers, and pet owners.
You will be responsible for:
Store Operations & Management:
Oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the store.
Ensure the store meets its sales targets and delivers outstanding customer service.
Manage, train, and motivate staff to perform to their highest ability.
Monitor stock levels and place orders to ensure product availability.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies.
Sales & Customer Service:
Provide expert advice on agricultural products including feed, seeds, fertilisers, tools, and equipment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and offering suitable solutions.
Promote and sell veterinary medicines in line with SQP regulations, ensuring customers receive the correct advice for animal health.
Stock Management:
Oversee the procurement, storage, and management of all agricultural products and veterinary medicines.
Ensure correct labelling, storage, and handling of veterinary medicines in accordance with legal requirements.
Conduct regular stock audits and manage inventory effectively to minimise waste.
Compliance & SQP Responsibilities:
Provide guidance on the responsible use of veterinary medicines, complying with all relevant legislation.
Maintain accurate records of product sales, especially for controlled veterinary products.
Stay up to date with changes in legislation regarding veterinary medicines and ensure the store remains compliant with SQP regulations.
Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain SQP status.
Financial Management:
Monitor financial performance, including sales, expenses, and profit margins.
Prepare and manage the store's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness in all areas of operation.
Handle cash management, including till reconciliation and banking.
Customer Relations & Marketing:
Develop and implement promotional strategies to increase footfall and sales.
Engage in community outreach and local marketing initiatives to strengthen the store's presence in the agricultural sector.
Organise educational events or seminars for customers, particularly around animal health and product usage.

SQP (Suitably Qualified Person) qualification, allowing you to prescribe and supply certain veterinary medicines (must be maintained and updated regularly).
Experience in managing an agricultural or farm store or a similar retail environment.
A strong understanding of agricultural products and farming requirements.
Proven sales experience and a track record of delivering excellent customer service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time management abilities.
Knowledge of animal health and the proper use of veterinary medicines.
The ability to work independently and make decisions whilst maintaining attention to detail.
Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and stock control.
The ability to lift heavy items and handle farm supplies.
A valid driving licence may be required for travel between sites or for deliveries.
A willingness to engage in professional development to keep up to date with agricultural trends and SQP responsibilities.
